How group work differs from a party
A birthday party is one group of ten for ninety minutes. A school day is four groups of thirty, back to back, and it needs planning rather than just turning up.
Schools and holiday clubs
We run Wizard School or Slime Lab as a carousel: one class at a time, usually 45 minutes to an hour a group, four groups a day. Everything is set up in one room and the classes come to us.
It ties in reasonably neatly with early science: mixing, states of matter, observing a change. We are not pretending it is a full lesson plan, but it is not just entertainment either.
Risk assessment and DBS certificate supplied before the day, as a matter of course.
Fetes, festivals and family hubs
A drop-in stall rather than a timed session. Children come and go, each one makes something small and takes it away. We can run this for hours and it works in a marquee, a hall or the corner of a field.
We have run sessions for community hubs and at fantasy festivals, where frankly we are among friends.
Tell us the expected footfall and we will tell you what we can realistically get through.
Why there is no price on this page
Because a straight number would be misleading. A half day for two classes in a Plymouth primary and a full day at a festival forty miles away are different jobs with different kit, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.
What we need from you to quote properly:
- The date, and whether it is a half day or a full day
- How many children in total, and in what size groups
- Their ages
- Where you are
- Whether there is a room we can set up in and leave set up
Send that over and you will get a real number back the same day, not a "prices from" that changes later.

What schools ask
Can we see your DBS and risk assessment first?
Yes, and you should. Sharon Trevethan holds an enhanced DBS and we carry £5 million public liability. We will send both, plus a written risk assessment for the session, before you commit to anything.
How many children can you do in a day?
Comfortably around 120, in four groups of thirty, with two of us running it. More than that and the quality drops, so we would rather book a second day than squeeze it.
Do you need the hall all day?
Ideally. Setting up and breaking down between every group eats the time you are paying for. A classroom we can take over works just as well as a hall.
Can you invoice the school?
Yes. Schools, PTAs and community organisations can be invoiced on the usual terms rather than paying a deposit online. Just say so when you enquire.
Got a date in mind?
Tell us the date, the ages and roughly how many, and we will come back to you the same day with what we can do.
- Everything arrives with us. You provide the room and the cake
- Set up an hour before, and we tidy up afterwards
- £5 million public liability and an enhanced DBS
- Answering the phone every day, 9am to 8pm
